ONE of the biggest names in Brisbane’s food scene is coming to North Lakes – and it is bringing something different.

Charlie’s Raw Squeeze will open its popular juice and food store, similar to the seven already scattered around Brisbane, and will launch its first vegan burger bar, MooFree Burgers.

It comes as burger and chip joint Getta Burger announced on its Facebook page earlier this week it also had plans to open in North Lakes in the near future.

North Lakes is already home to some of the most popular food franchises, especially in the Westfield precinct.

North Lakes Chamber of Commerce president Sharon Armstrong said the moves were a reflection on the growth of the area.

“There’s confidence in business, which is fantastic for the area,” she said.

Charlie’s Raw Squeeze owners, and brothers, Johnny and Michael Tabet said they had found through the original store at Everton Park, there was a huge demand from people living in North Lakes and the surrounding area.

“We only had one more store to open on the north side and when we asked what people wanted, 80 per cent said they wanted a Raw Squeeze in North Lakes,” Johnny said.

“MooFree is a first in Australia for having 100 per cent vegan burgers.

“People are still going to be able to find the quality and freshness they find at all our stores.
“Some people may think the bigger we get, means there will be a drop in freshness, but our biggest suppliers is ourselves – Charlie’s Fruit Market.”

Michael said people could expect to see Charlie’s signature items on the North Lakes Central building, on Lakefield Drive – the former home of Paleo Cafe.

“The atmosphere at North Lakes is going to be great, we’re expecting it to be our busiest store,” he said. “People are very excited about it.”

The Tabet brothers are hoping to open the store mid to late October.

The North Lakes Raw Squeeze store is the tenth in the Charlie’s brand with outlets at Everton Park, Greenslopes, Ashgrove, Clayfield, Kenmore, Clontarf, Newstead and stores opening soon in Thorneside and Underwood.
